HOMEWARD: A Return to the First Shore

As an archipelago, we have always been shaped by water, living between islands, currents, and coastlines that define how we move and gather. It has shaped our lives, once separating and connecting us, marking distance while also drawing us back. Over time, it has gone beyond its role as geography; it has become a form of sanctuary, a vast space of return where we find rest, familiarity, and even belonging.

Kislap the Label believes that we can bring to the shoreline with us what makes us Filipino through swimwear, carrying culture, memory, and identity into spaces of rest without needing to set them aside. There is beauty in our origins, in the everyday lives that shaped us long before we arrived at who we are now. And like something calling us home, there is a need to return to it, not to recreate the past — but to remember it, to recognize where we come from, and to hold it with pride as part of how we move forward.

Kislap the Label’s first collection, HOMEWARD, reimagines swimwear as part of that return. It is a way of coming home to the body, to memory, and to culture. It is an invitation to embrace what it means to become Filipino again, through pieces shaped by movement, water, and form.

HOMEWARD is a love letter to that return. It is a reminder that what and who we are today were shaped by something beautiful. We hope that through these pieces, our swimwear becomes a way for these cultural threads to be reawakened at the water’s edge, inviting us once again to embrace what it means to be Filipino.
